Early season already a historic one for young program

When Lawrence Lee intecepted a despiration Washington High pass to preserve West Florida's 12-7 win Friday, the Jaguars' celebration began.

It continued Saturday morning.

Nearly four dozen Jaguar players, coaches and fans gathered at Beef O'Brady's on Mobile Highway to see the replay of the PSB Live broadcast on the restaurant's projection screen.

"This is great for our kids," West Florida coach Harry Lees said. "Anytime we can get them together we can get them to bond more. Plus, they get to see the game and have some food together."

West Florida is now 2-0 on the year, picking up the first two victories over Pensacola schools in its 10-year history. The Jaguars opened the season with a win at Escambia.

Players like quarterback Kyle Faxlanger and sophomore defensive back Kenny Davis who won the game's Tijuana Flats hit-of-the-week award not only enjoyed the event, they also impressed the restaurant staff.

"It has been a pleasure to host these players and their families," Beff O'Brady's owner Tamron Goodson said. "They have had a good time watching their game in our projection room and we look forward to all the area teams joining us on Saturdays."

Next up for West Florida is Tate Friday at Woodham High School. The game can be seen here on PSB Live at 7:30 p.m. The Sandy Sansing Prep Pregame Show airs at 5:30 p.m.
