Pitcher improves to a 4-2 record
An efficient Bryan Henry waltzed through 8.1 innings on just 95 pitches to push the BayBears past the Montgomery Biscuits 4-1 at Hank Aaron Stadium on Wednesday night, keeping the BayBears atop the South Division. Henry (4-2) cruised through the Montgomery (55-45, 17-15) lineup, surrendering just five hits while striking out three and walking nobody. He tossed five 1-2-3 innings in the contest while the Biscuits picked up their only tally in the fifth. Rashad Eldridge doubled in front of a triple by John Matulia. The BayBears (54-45, 18-13) grabbed the initial advantage in the bottom of the second against starter Jeremy Hall (4-7). Sean Coughlin singled with one away and eventually scored on a two-out knock by Ollie Linton. After Montgomery evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the fifth, Collin Cowgill quickly put the BayBears back on top by smashing his 12th home run of the season against Hall with one out in the bottom of the fifth. Two more runs came home for the BayBears in the sixth as Coughlin cracked a two-bagger to start the frame while Jake Elmore's bunt single put runners on the corners with no outs. Sacrifice flies from Linton and Cowgill plated Coughlin and Elmore, respectively, putting the BayBears up by three. Montgomery's only true threat to tie the game from there came in the ninth inning as a single and a hit batsman put two men on to chase Henry from the contest. Daniel Stange (S, 3) entered and needed only one pitch to end the ballgame as Henry Wrigley bounced into a 1-6-3 game-ending double play to finish off the Biscuits. |
