Hoggard named to ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team |

 Argonaut senior boasts 3.87 GPA.
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Senior Max Hoggard (Micanopy, Fla./P.K. Yonge HS) of the West Florida men’s basketball team was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced on Thursday. The forward was selected to District 3 of the College Division, which includes student-athletes from NCAA Division II and III as well as NAIA and NJCAA. A major in Sports Management, Hoggard posted a cumulative GPA of 3.87 through the fall semester, the highest of any player selected in his district. Hoggard is fourth on the team with 12.6 points per game and he averages 4.1 rebounds per contest. Scoring in the double digits 12 out of 18 games played this season, he posted a double-double against West Georgia where he scored 19 points with 11 rebounds before the team fell in overtime 94-100. His career high performance came against Virginia State on December 30, where he went 8-17 and led the team with 26 points. The 6-7 senior has averaged 32 minutes per game and has started all but one game. With the Academic All-District Team selection, Hoggard will be up for a spot on the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America team. To be nominated, an athlete must have a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA and have played in at least 50 percent of the team’s games that season. They also must have completed one year at their institution. |
