More Panhandle Conference coming

Just when things appeared to be settling for the women in the Panhandle Conference, Chipola proved they still had life by upsetting Pensacola on Saturday night.

With three teams advancing to the state tournament from the conference, Gulf Coast and Pensacola seem to be near locks and it appeared to be a race for third between Tallahassee and Northwest Florida State. But with Chipola upsetting Pensacola, the Lady Indians showed that they will not go away quietly.

Chipola travels to Northwest Florida State on Wednesday and hosts Tallahassee on Saturday. These two games will tell if Chipola is back.

On the men's side, Tallahassee dealt Northwest Florida State their first conference loss and now both sit at No. 1 in the state.

Chipola ended a four-game losing streak by defeating Pensacola, and gets a shot at both leaders this week. The Indians, a staple at the state tournament, is looking at two must-win games against the two No. 1 teams in the state.

PSBLive will be bringing you three double headers this week, with Pensacola-Gulf Coast and Chipola-Northwest Florida State slated for Wednesday and Chipola-Tallahassee slated for Saturday.

Cheerleading takes center stage

This weekend, thousands of high school cheerleaders will be in Central Florida for the FHSAA Competitive Cheerleading championships.

PSBLive will be there covering the event on a live video stream, as well as selling DVDs of the tournament.

The following Panhandle schools will be participating:

West Florida - Large Varsity
Crestview - Small Coed
Escambia - Small Coed
Tate - Large Varsity
Pine Forest - Medium Varsity
Bozeman - Medium Varsity
Choctaw - Medium Varsity
Niceville - Medium Varsity
Bay - Small Varsity

Look for more information about this event as the week progresses.
